What can I say about directing Into the Woods that hasn’t already been said? Well, I can say that the Brothers Grimm’s tales have greatly influenced this production. This interpretation presents a new darker perspective on how the stories are narrated and interrelated. I ask that you open your minds to these new interpretations, ideas and approaches, beginning with the Narrator acting as the Baker’s son. As the Narrator recalls the story he is suddenly drawn and trapped in it like many of us have been trapped in a past memory. I won’t describe all the fun twists that are staged but do keep an eye out for many dark events. All the characters will be constantly interacting with the audience so don’t be surprised if something or someone crawls out from where you least expect it.
